Renovation of the Main hall and Kitchen

$
Personal Info

The building that was constructed close to 47 years is in a risky state with visible cracks in the walls, in some areas bricks are falling apart, the roof is linking and almost on the verge of collapsing.

This building was last renovated 21 years ago when it used to serve as the chapel for morning, evening, and Sunday prayers and fellowships.

State of the facility

  • The floor is cracked; the walls have lost their original paint.
  • The electric wires lay bare though they are not connected to the grid.
  • Smoke from the kitchen poses a big risk to the health of both the staff and children.
  • The ceiling is falling apart with regular debris falling each day.
  • Currently, children’s food is being stored in the houses where the children sleep. This is a big challenge because most of the times rodents disturb the children while trying to access the food store.

Benefits of  the renovations

  1. The main hall serves as the dining place for the children and staff.
  2. The main hall serves as the common venue for meetings most especially during this time when we’re required to observe social distancing.
  3. When the kitchen is renovated and standardized, the problem of cooking under smoke will be ended.
  4. An extra room will be created in the kitchen to serve as a food storage space to save the children from the problem of rodents.
