CSU Kitchen -Main Hall Renovation Project on Steady Progress

The Progress of the Construction

The project that had been planned one year ago, started on 1st July 2022 and is currently in the third week. One amazing thing is the community has been left in great awe of God’s goodness after when they looked at the building that had lasted over 50 years now pulled down to have it renovated and given a new look.

The old sheets, the old timber and the falling debris now dominated the CSU Kitchen Main hall construction site.

It is the third week of since the renovation works on the Bweya Children’s Home Kitchen and Main Hall started. am excited to inform you that the first level almost complete. This level involved raising the internal and external walls to the standard roofing level and making internal room adjustments.

The Background History of this Project

The building that was constructed close to 47 years is in a risky state with visible cracks in the walls, in some areas bricks are falling apart, the roof is linking and almost on the verge of collapsing.

This building was last renovated 21 years ago when it used to serve as the chapel for morning, evening, and Sunday prayers and fellowships.

State of the facility

  • The floor is cracked; the walls have lost their original paint.
  • The electric wires lay bare though they are not connected to the grid.
  • Smoke from the kitchen poses a big risk to the health of both the staff and children.
  • The ceiling is falling apart with regular debris falling each day.
  • Currently, children’s food is being stored in the houses where the children sleep. This is a big challenge because most of the times rodents disturb the children while trying to access the food store. Learn more about the Kitchen-Main Hall status.
